Munster hurling betting preview | Cork need big win get on -7 against dismal Waterford

For a second year in a row, they meet in circumstances where Waterford are out of contention for a place in Munster’s top three, while Cork are still very much in contention after winning one and losing one of their opening two games.

Cork v Waterford has been a very busy rivalry over the past 20 years, in particular, with the sides having met on 19 occasions in the championship in that period. Cork have won nine times (1999-2003-2005 (twice)-2006-2012-2014-2017-2018); Water ford have won seven (2002-2004-2007 (twice), 2010, 2015, 2017 while they drew in 2007-2010-2014).

This will be the 67th championship clash between the counties. It’s 46-14 in Cork’s fa vour with six draws. Cork also had a walkover when Waterford failed to field in 1890.

Waterford have not won a championship game since beating Cork in the 2017 All Ireland semi-final. Since then they have lost to Clare and Limerick (twice each), Cork, Tipperary and Galway. They also drew with Tipperary.

This is Waterford’s final ’round robin’ game while Cork will play Clare in their last game on Sunday week.
